Confined Space Entry Training Online

Many workplaces containg spaces with limited or restricted means of entry or exit, that hinder mobility and activities of employees, or are not meant for continuous employee occupancy. These spaces are defined by OSHA as “Confined Spaces” and may include vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, crawl spaces, silos and pipelines. Workers who enter confined spaces may face many life-threatening hazards. As such, it is important that every worker exposed to these conditions knows how to identify and deal with Confined Spaces and the hazards they may present.

This course is based on the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 permit-required confined space standards for General Industry.

NEWLY UPDATED Confined Space Entry Training for Construction course updated for Subpart AA of 29 CFR 1926.

What is a permit-required confined space?

Any confined space that contains one or more of the following is considered by OSHA to be a “Permit-Required Confined Space”:

  1. A potentially hazardous atmosphere
  2. A material that has the potential to suffocate or engulf a person
  3. Walls that taper down to a narrow area that can trap or suffocate a person
  4. Health hazards such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, excessive heat, etc.

Before initial work on a project may begin, an employer must ensure that all employees working in permit-required confined spaces receive proper training and that they have the understanding, knowledge and equipment necessary to perform their duties safely.
